ANN MATTERSON

Musical TheatRE PRODUCTION MUSICAL DIRECTOR, RockStarz PROGRAM

Ann is a passionate performer, performing arts teacher, and choreographer based in Delta. Her journey in dance and musical theatre began at the young age of three, and she continued her training at Studio West after relocating to Delta in 2009.
Having trained extensively in dance at Studio West, vocal skills at Delta Community Music School, and performing with Delta Secondary School's Theatre Company, Delta Youth Theatre, and Gotta Sing Gotta Dance, Ann's love for musical theatre and dance has been nurtured throughout her career. Notable performances include portraying Hope in "Urinetown," Ariel in "The Little Mermaid," and Mrs. Banks in "Mary Poppins."

Since graduating, Ann has been fortunate to serve as a choreographer for various companies across the lower mainland, including Ladner, White Rock, New Westminster, and Chilliwack. Memorable choreographic projects include "Mamma Mia" (Secondary Characters), "Jesus Christ Superstar" (Newbury Arts Concepts), and "Footloose" (DSS Theatre Company).

Driven by her passion for dance and teaching, Ann discovered her love for nurturing young dancers. Her compassionate approach and ability to adapt to students of all ages have made her a beloved instructor over the years. She has taught children ranging from ages 3 to 19, always striving to create a positive learning environment where students feel safe to explore new techniques while balancing hard work with fun.

Recently, Ann founded Delta Players Theatre, a not-for-profit theatre company based in Delta. They successfully debuted their first show in May of 2023, marking an exciting milestone in her career. Ann is thrilled to join the Studio West Family and share her expertise with the next generation of dancers in the very studio that shaped her own artistic journey.
