Acro

A style of dance that combines acrobatic/gymnastic elements with basic jazz technique. The choreography to music will blend the two forms together.

Ballet

Ballet is the basis for dance. It provides the technical scaffolding required to produce strong and healthy dancers and is recommended for all dancers. Read more about our ballet program here >

Contemporary

Contemporary dance borrows from jazz, ballet, funk, social dance styles and many modern dance styles of the 20th century. Contemporary dance encourages natural, spontaneous movement and personal interpretation.

Jazz

A fun but technical form of dance that is fast paced and high energy. It helps develop musicality, co-ordination and flexibility. Teachers use music that is up-beat and age appropriate.

Hip Hop

A current popular form of dance that is based on “street style”. Teachers teach stylistic requirements of popping, locking and breaking to connect students with the groove and rhythms of the music. Teachers choose age-appropriate music for each class.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is very similar to ballet, combining the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom, fluidity, expressiveness and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance.

Musical Theatre

A form of theatre combining music, songs, spoken dialogue, and dance. The emotional contents–as well as the story itself–is communicated through words, music and movement which are integrated together to create one entertaining performance.

Tap

Tap incorporates the use of the feet as a percussive instrument. Dancers develop co-ordination, musicality and rhythmic awareness through this exciting dance style.

Technique Classes

Technique classes are used to work on specific techniques of dance, such as jazz or ballet. They are used as support to other classes that are being taken, and as such are not included in competitions or year-end performances.

Stage

Combining basic jazz dance with acting and character work to help portray a story or create an entertaining routine! This class is much like Musical Theatre, but without voice. Lip-syncing is used for most stage routines. Note: A jazz or ballet class is required.
