Nicol has been teaching and choreographing for the over 20 years in both Canada and Japan. She is thrilled to be going into her 7th season with SWD.

Nicol is also a professional performer, and spent five years with Disney Cruise Lines. She has been on stage with many theatre companies, including Theatre Under the Stars, Carousel Theatre, Royal City Musical Theatre, and Gateway Theatre in Vancouver. Her TUTS credits include Annie Get Your GunAnnie, Hairspray!  and this year's production of Mary Poppins. Nicol has also worked on set with Walt Disney Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, NBC and CBS. 

Nicol's onstage highlights include: Cat in the Hat (Carousel Theatre for Young People) Hairspray, Annie Get Your Gun & Annie (TUTS), A Chorus Line, West Side Story, 42nd Street, Peter Pan (RCMT) Joseph, Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar (URP), Night of the Living Dead (DRSP),  the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympic Games in 2010, Disney Dreams, Mickey’s Pirates, and The Golden Mickeys (Disney Cruise Line).

Her choreographic highlights include Million Dollar Quartet (Arts Club Theatre Company), Mary Poppins, Cinderella, and Something Rotten! (Theatre Under the Stars) Mamma Mia (Chemaninus Theatre) Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Anne of Green Gables (Gateway Theatre), Enron (United Players), Sweeney Todd, Company, Cabaret (Raincity Theatre), Legally Blonde, Annie, Shrek (Align Entertainment), Seussical (SaskExpress), & 9to5 (Capilano University). Nicol has won the Ovation Award for Outstanding Choreography three times as well as multiple Jessie Richardson Awards for Outstanding Musical Production. Nicol’s upbringing and lived experience influence not only her teaching but her leadership and artistry; her largest passion is creating safe, and more equitable rooms for her students, collaborators and fellow artists.
